Et un nouvel album "Hypnotic Eye" est annonçé pour le 29 juillet.
J'ignore si c'est la pochette mais c'est la photo qui accompagnait cette nouvelle. Plus vraisemblablement,c'est sûrement lié à cette tournée.

J'ai reçu le mail il y a une semaine, ayant été un temps membre de ce fan club afin d'avoir des places de rêve pour le voir à Cleveland en 2010... concert finalement annulé, enfin bref.

Ils avaient déjà proposé le même type de live à la fin du Mojo Tour de 2010 justement, annoncé à l'époque comme exclu, pour finalement un an plus tard, reproposer quelques titres sur KISS MY AMPS, le LP Live uniquement paru en vinyl dans le cadre de Black Friday Record Day (novembre 2011), puis en remettre encore une couche dans la réédition de MOJO début 2012 avec ce CD Bonus live, servant ainsi de promotion à la tournée européenne de printemps-été 2012. Belle setlist avec des choses moins courantes qu'à l'accoutumée, espérant que cette fois-ci, ça restera une vraie exclu... 

Et n'oublions pas la réédition de WILDFLOWERS !!!

We are thrilled to announce Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' 2014 North American tour and the July 29th release of their first new studio album in four years on Reprise Records, Hypnotic Eye. The tour, featuring very special guest Steve Winwood, will begin in San Diego, CA on August 3rd.

The tour includes already announced headline performances at San Francisco's Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival and at the Lockn' Festival in Arrington, VA. On Labor Day weekend, for the first time ever, the band will perform at Boston's Fenway Park.

Tickets to many of the newly announced concerts will go onsale at Ticketmaster.com and other ticketing services beginning Saturday May 31, with Highway Companions Club presales beginning Monday May 26 for select Canadian cities. Every 2014 Tour ticket will include Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' new album, Hypnotic Eye. The album was recently described by Rolling Stone magazine as "maximum rock & roll" and "a decisive return to the concise Sixties-rock classicism of his first great New Wave era albums.

Hypnotic Eye will be available in CD, digital, high resolution Blu-ray audio and vinyl formats. The vinyl will be available as 1-LP or as 2-LPs inclusive of an additional track not available in any other format. Beginning June 3, fans can pre-order the vinyl, CD and Blu-ray audio editions on TomPetty.com and Amazon and can pre-order the digital edition on iTunes and Amazon.


Fans who preorder the digital album on iTunes and Amazon beginning June 3rd will get an instant download of the first of several album tracks to be revealed prior to the release date.

A propos de Petty, j'ai récupéré çà la semaine dernière.
Un peu loin de son actualité et au vu de la "qualité" du cd, je pensais que c'était un truc officiel.
J'ai essayé de l'écouter, mais en ce moment çà ne sont pas les sons que j'ai envie d'écouter du tout.
J'ai donc mis çà de côté.

La rumeur annonçait cette réédition pour Noël 2014 mais on a effectivement rien vu arriver finalement, elle a vraisemblablement été repoussé pour une raison ou une autre. Je suppose que tôt ou tard on va en réentendre parler mais rien de concret pour l'instant...

“Somewhere Under Heaven” is the first track to be released from Tom Petty’s forthcoming album Wildflowers – All The Rest.

Written by Tom and Mike Campbell and recorded in 1992, but forgotten in Petty’s archives until this year, “Somewhere Under Heaven” is a lost gem from one of the most prolific periods of Petty’s career, during which he wrote and recorded the album that became 1994’s Wildflowers.

Tom Petty’s forthcoming album Wildflowers – All The Rest, which is composed of tracks written and recorded by Petty between 1992 and 1994, will complete the original Wildflowers album, which was initially intended by Petty and producer Rick Rubin to be a double CD.

“Somewhere Under Heaven” is now available to stream and purchase at all digital retailers and can be heard during the end-credits of the Warner Bros Pictures movie Entourage, to be released tomorrow June 3rd.

One of the great things about rock stars growing old is they begin to buy into their own mythologies. This spurs them to release things like Tom Petty’s new collection, Wildflowers – All The Rest: a bunch of songs he wrote from 1992-1994 that didn’t quite make it onto Wildflowers proper. Since that’s my second-favorite Tom Petty solo album (nothing touches Full Moon Fever), I was more than happy to hear the unreleased material. Our first taste is called “Somewhere Under Heaven,” an uptempo track with a gorgeous, quick-picked melody that Petty said he completely forgot writing or recording. It certainly does have that light, latent mid-’90s airiness to it and sounds similar to “Wildflowers” itself. The song was co-written by Mike Campbell and is the first unearthed song to appear off the album. Apparently, Petty and Wildflowers producer Rick Rubin intended the album to be a double-disc release. Now it will be. Where else will “Somewhere Under Heaven” be? Soundtracking the end credits of the Entourage movie, of course. Listen below.

Because we live during the great content wars of 2015, there’s also a trailer feature a snippet of the song that you can watch. You’ll probably enjoy it if you like things like the Entourage movie.

There doesn’t seem to be an official release date for the album yet, but we’ll update when there is. But wait, that’s not even all the Tom Petty news that today holds. Rolling Stone reports that his pre-fame band Mudcrutch will follow-up their first official album from 2008 with another new record. They’ll begin work on that album in August.

C'est une relecture d'un titre de Tom Petty période SOUTHERN ACCENTS, qui fut la face B du 45 tours "Don't Come Around Here No More" et qu'on retrouvera plus tard sur le coffret PLAYBACK. J'adore ce titre mais je préfère la version originale, même s'il y a pas grande différence entre les deux versions. La 1ère est plus fraîche et plus enlevée à mon goût.

Par contre le projet de réédition de WILDFLOWERS est encore repoussé de ce fait...

dommage, les deux en même temps cela aurait eu de la gueule...

Pour le Record Store Day sort ce 45 tours coloré mais les deux faces sont sur l'album, ce qui donne moins d'intérêt à l'objet pour le coup
