Je n'ai écouté le boot Tempe qu'une fois.
Dans mon souvenir, la première partie, malgré Badlands, ne fonctionne pas aussi bien que d'autres concerts de cette tournée. Problème de début de tournée sans doute. La deuxième partie est excellentissime, Drive all night, Backstreets... et ce titre I wanna marry you, avec une superbe intro à rallonge.
Nous verrons ce que le film dira.

Donc, si je résumé (parce que je débarque) : des CDs, deux blurays pour un docu et le live à Tempe (qui a donc été filmé en pellicule ).
Mais aucune info sur le contenu des CDs ?

Un cd reprendrait l'album Ties That Bind de 79 (la version préhistorique de The River pour faire court) et l'autre des "outtakes" (au sens large).

A propos de Tempe (film), ce lien est intéressant même s'il est essentiellement consacré à un projet Pink Floyd, mené lui aussi par Howard Lamden, qui a eu son heure de gloire entre 80 et 83 avant de sombrer dans l'oubli. Pas de bol pour lui, son projet de documentaire et captation de la tournée The Wall en 80 à Londres a connu le même sort que son travail pour Springsteen : un long séjour aux oubliettes.

Perso, dans les outtakes, j'espère qu'il ferra ce qu'il a fait pour Darkness. J'aime beaucoup le côté historique, roots, reflet d'une époque et tout ça mais on peut le trouver dans les bootlegs. Sur les cd du coffret darkness, il les a nettoyé, remixé, rechanté, réarrangé, terminé pour en faire un ensemble cohérent, pour que ça sonne neuf, actuel, vivant. Et ça en fait un album terrible. Qu'il aurait pu sortir sans nous dire que c'était des vieilleries.
J'espère avoir le même traitement sur les outtakes de The River et surtout aussi bien fait.

De ce point de vue là je crois qu'il n'y a aucune crainte à avoir: Springsteen ne sait tout bonnement pas faire autrement.
Il procédait déjà de la sorte pour Tracks. Notre chance c'est qu'il fait ça souvent avec gout et subtilité sans (trop) dénaturer les originaux.

En revanche, ça n'en fait pas pour autant des disques neufs ou actuels, à mon avis, le deuxième cd de Tracks et The Promise sont tout deux très datés même si par ailleurs j'aime évidemment énormément ces disques.

Pour en revenir à The River, on sait que ce coffret est en chantier depuis au moins 3 ans : il faut bien qu'ils passent du temps à fignoler 'quelque chose'

Je suis là-dessus un peu par hasard, il y a quelque temps déjà. C'est un répertoire d'images tirées du concert de Tempe (et de l'avant-concert aussi) utilisées au gré de clip promos, etc...

Gary U.S. Bonds recorded the song during the Dedication album recording sessions in mid-1980 (see the "Dedication" section below for more details).

The 1991 reissue of Dedication on the Razor Edge label includes album liner note by Gary U.S. Bonds himself. He wrote: "One night, Bruce woke me up at four in the morning to play 'This Little Girl', a new song he had written for the album I told him that it would sound just as good if he played it for me the next morning." He also recounts that they made a music video for THIS LITTLE GIRL, but he made them pull it because, as he said, "I thought we looked stupid mouthing the words. I didn't want to be seen chasing some girl through the street of New York City or having a make believe fist fight with some guy while I was lip synching 'If you mess with her, I'm gonna mess with you. The music speaks for itself. You don't need to dress it up."

According to Brucebase, a Bruce Springsteen vocal rendition of THIS LITTLE GIRL was likely recorded at The Power Station in New York City, NY, during the June-August 1980 recording sessions with Gary U.S. Bonds.

Il semble que BTX ait raison pour les titres manquants du live à Tempe (surtout le mid-set avant les rappels)...
