feels like rain, again...
Down here the river meets the sea
And in the sticky heat I feel ya’ open up to me
Love comes out of nowhere baby, just like a hurricane
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain
And in the sticky heat I feel ya’ open up to me
Love comes out of nowhere baby, just like a hurricane
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain

Grooving... on a Tuesday evening...
SOUL MAN
Boz Scaggs transformed himself from a blues singer to a soul man. His first album with Atlantic featured the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and the slide guitar of Duane Allman. But by the time of Silk Degrees he was involved with a band that would eventually become Toto.

One could say that Boz Scaggs had the blues in him. Before he went solo, he was a member of blues rock outfit, the Steve Miller Band. His debut album on Atlantic Records in 1969 had slide guitarist Duane Allman and the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section backing him. Even as he performed at the Wollman Rink in Central Park, New York, in 1976, he namechecked BB King and slipped in the very bluesy Running Blues.
But then most of his fans would say he had a lot of soul for a white guy. Between his 1974 album, Slow Dancer, and the chart-topping Silk Degrees in 1976, Scaggs had a lot more Philly in him than one would imagine. Perhaps Scaggs was part of that soul revival in the mid-’70s that included Tower Of Power, but when he recorded Silk Degrees with session musicians who would later form adult-oriented rock group, Toto, one could feel that Scaggs also had a great pop sensibility that was also attuned to the market.
The hit single, Lowdown, really swings; Jump Street as catchy today as it was then; and who could forget Lido Shuffle, a hit in its own right and a radio staple. Guess by the mid-’70s, musicians were all trying ways and means to find the yellow brick road to wealth and fame. Whatever Woody Guthrie or the punk sound of the MC5 meant were all but forgotten. And thanks to FM radio, everyone was out to embrace fame and fortune…
This concert was part four of a larger Boz Scaggs set, The Signature Series, assembled back in the day when rare radio concerts were shared through a “tree” system and traded by post. An excellent stereo FM broadcast.
