Tom Waits et Keith Richards pour un duo de pirates

"Cela fait longtemps que l'on ne s'est pas vu, Shenandoah", c'est un refrain qu'on pourrait presque reprendre pour Tom Waits. Mais il revient bel et bien, avec son camarade de jeu Keith Richards, ils nous concoctent la reprise d'un classique du folk américain, Shenandoah.

Avec sa voix à faire passer Barry White pour un prépubère, Tom Waits sert cette chanson folk du XIXe siècle avec brio, accompagné par le guitariste des Rolling Stones. Dans cette histoire de marin au long cours, il est question d'un trappeur qui veut épouser la fille d'un chef indien pour l'emmener loin, loin au delà de la rivière Missouri.

Le morceau fait partie d'une compilation de deux disques pilotée par Johnny Depp et qui paraîtra le 19 février chez ANTI-. Son of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys est une suite à la compilation Rogue's Gallery, parue en 2006 et qui se veut être attenante à la série de films Pirates des Caraïbes.

Whaouh ça claque !
On reconnaît bien le jeu de Richards dans la deuxième partie. Même sa voix est très caractéristique et complète bien celle de Waits ! Je trouve ça plutôt réussi. Je vais me le réécouter en tant que berceuse, allez hop !
